YOUR VISIT: Information to Customers

Why we ask all of our customers to have a consultation with our Travel Health Advisors?
Our Travel Health Advisors are specially trained doctors and nurses and we ask our customers to have a consultation prior to any vaccinations or treatments to ensure that you are fit and well to travel and to receive any of the vaccinations or treatments the advisor recommends. Your Travel Health Advisor will take your proposed travel itinerary and your personal medical history into account when making recommendations to you.

On arrival for your appointment

•  Please be on time for your appointment as the clinic is busy and we aim to see people at their appointment times.

•  Bring a record of any vaccinations previously administered and a record of any medication you are currently taking.

•  You will be asked to complete a Travel Health Medical Questionnaire (this will include the name and address of your GP).

During your consultation

•  Your Travel Health Advisor will undertake a risk assessment based on your itinerary, any underlying medical condition and your previous vaccination history.

•  You will be provided with advice and recommended treatments for your trip (vaccinations, blood tests or malaria prophylaxis).

•  All vaccines and malaria treatments are in stock and can be administered immediately (you do not need to make a further appointment).

•  During the consultation, your Travel Health Advisor will also advise of any potential adverse reaction to a treatment. In most people, adverse reactions are rare – generally, though, you may experience a minor irritation at the injection site, a fever or mild flu-like symptoms and any of these should be short-term.

•  You will also advised on the purchase of repellents, mosquito nets and other travellers' aids.

•  Please ask your Travel Health Advisor for any further information at any time during the Consultation.

How to Pay

The Royal Free Travel Health Clinic is a private clinic and you will be required to pay for any treatments at the time of the consultation. We accept payment by all major debit and credit cards except American Express. We accept cash but not payment by cheque.

If you have receive vaccinations, malaria prophylaxis or have any blood tests at the time of the consultation, the fee for the consultation by the Travel Health Nurse Advisor is waived (this does not include the purchase of Lifestyle or Aqua Pura products).

After your consultation

If you have suffered an adverse reaction to any of our treatments, please call us for further advice or refer to your GP.

Please note:Customers of the Travel Health Centre are reminded that physical and /or verbal abuse of our staff is unacceptable in any circumstances.

All incidents of abuse are treated seriously and you will be asked to leave the clinic and they may be reported to the police.
